This Part of BS 1344 describes a method of test for determining the resistance to sudden changes in temperature (thermal shock) of vitreous enamel finishes on fabricated sheet steel components, that are near to, or likely to be affected by, a source of heat. It is not applicable to cooking utensils which are covered in BS 1344-16:1975, or to cast iron components which are covered in BS 1344-1:1994.
