This standard BS 2782-1:Method 140E:1982 Methods of testing plastics. Thermal properties is classified in these ICS categories:
  • 13.220.40 Ignitability and burning behaviour of materials and products
  • 83.080.01 Plastics in general

This method describes a procedure for determining the degree of flammability of plastics for production control purposes. The method is suitable for those materials that are light and bulky and which can be tested in the form of a panel not exceeding 50 mm in thickness. It is not suitable for materials that melt rather than char.
