This British Standard specifies requirements for the dimensions, construction, cleanliness, packaging and marking for the two most commonly used sizes of glass disposable Pasteur pipettes, i.e. nominal sizes 145 and 230, representing their nominal overall length, expressed in millimetres.

The pipettes are uncalibrated and are intended for the transfer and replicate dispensing of drops of solutions and of suspensions of biological materials.
