DESCRIPTION

BS 7870-3.11:2011

This standard BS 7870-3.11:2011 LV and MV polymeric insulated cables for use by distribution and generation utilities is classified in these ICS categories:
  • 29.060.20 Cables

This section of BS 7870 specifies requirements for the construction, dimensions and mechanical and electrical properties of concentric copper wire combined neutral/earth (CNE) service cables having a rated voltage of 0.6/1(1.2) kV.

It specifies requirements for the following types of cable:

  1. single phase or 3-phase;

  2. stranded copper or solid aluminium conductors;

  3. XLPE insulation and PVC oversheath.

This section of BS 7870 is applicable to cables that are designed for a maximum continuous conductor operating temperature of 90 °C and for a maximum short circuit conductor temperature of 250 °C.
