This Part of BS AU 209 specifies requirements for the performance and use of systems intended to deter or prevent the theft of in-car radio, audio and visual equipment used for entertainment and communications, hereinafter referred to as “equipment”, in passenger cars and car derived vehicles.

This Part of BS AU 209 applies to equipment fitted during vehicle manufacture and after market equipment.

This Part of BS AU 209 does not apply to ancillary equipment such as aerials, interconnections, balance controls and loudspeakers.

Tests to determine compliance with this standard are described in Appendix A and Appendix B.
