Why Choose PVDF Heat-Shrinkable Sleeving?

Polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) is a high-performance thermoplastic that offers a unique combination of properties, making it an ideal choice for aerospace applications. Its semi-flexible nature allows for easy installation and adaptability to various shapes and sizes, while maintaining excellent mechanical strength and chemical resistance.

PVDF is known for its outstanding resistance to abrasion, UV radiation, and a wide range of chemicals, ensuring long-lasting performance even in the most challenging environments. This makes it an excellent choice for protecting wires, cables, and other components in aerospace systems.

Applications in the Aerospace Industry

The BS EN 4708-105:2019 standard is specifically tailored for the aerospace industry, where safety, reliability, and performance are paramount. The heat-shrinkable sleeving is used extensively for:

  • Wire and Cable Protection: Safeguard electrical wiring and cabling from environmental and mechanical damage.
  • Component Identification: Use color-coded sleeving for easy identification and organization of components.
  • Insulation: Provide additional insulation to prevent electrical shorts and enhance safety.
  • Binding: Securely bundle wires and cables to reduce clutter and improve system organization.

Compliance and Quality Assurance

The BS EN 4708-105:2019 standard ensures that the heat-shrinkable sleeving meets stringent quality and performance criteria. Compliance with this standard guarantees that the product is manufactured to the highest industry standards, providing peace of mind to engineers and technicians who rely on its performance in critical applications.

DESCRIPTION

BS EN 4708-105:2019

This standard BS EN 4708-105:2019 Aerospace series. Sleeving, heat-shrinkable, for binding, insulation and identification is classified in these ICS categories:
  • 49.060 Aerospace electric equipment and systems
This document specifies the required characteristics for a heat-shrinkable, semi-flexible polyvinylidene sleeving for use in aircraft electrical systems at operating temperatures between ? 55 °C and 150 °C. This sleeving is basically transparent, but may be tinted. It is semi-flexible tough and abrasion resistant, and is suitable for use where strain relief and mechanical protection are required, or where their transparent properties are desirable. It is not suitable for use where contamination from phosphate ester based hydraulic fluid is possible. These sleevings are normally supplied with internal diameters up to 25,4 mm for shrink ratios of 2:1. Sizes other than those specifically listed in this standard may be available. These items shall be considered to comply with this standard if they comply with the property requirements listed in Tables 2, 3 and 4 except for dimensions and mass.
