DESCRIPTION

BS ISO 14132-5:2008

This standard BS ISO 14132-5:2008 Optics and photonics. Vocabulary for telescopic systems is classified in these ICS categories:
  • 01.040.37 Image technology (Vocabularies)
  • 37.020 Optical equipment

This part of ISO 14132 gives terms and definitions for night vision devices such as binoculars, monoculars and goggles that are used for observation activities at night, rescue actions under low light conditions, urgent repairs in the dark, night-time surveillance, and research in the near infrared or ultraviolet regions.

This part of ISO 14132 does not cover thermal imaging technology.

The definitions may be changed, if required, by introducing derivative attributes into them, revealing the meanings of the terms used, showing the objects covered by the scope of the notion being defined. These changes shall not upset the scope and contents of the notions defined.

NOTE In addition to terms used in the three official ISO languages (English, French and Russian), this part of ISO 14132 gives the equivalent terms and definitions in the German language; these are published under the responsibility of the member body for Germany (DIN). However, only the terms and definitions given in the official languages can be considered as ISO terms and definitions.
