This British Standard specifies the characteristics of a chromium-nickel-aluminium corrosion resisting steel for aerospace applications, supplied as springs manufactured from solution heat treated rod, cold drawn into wire, formed into springs and finally precipitation hardened, designation S 206. It also covers the following intermediate product forms:

  1. rod: solution treated, for the manufacture of wire, designation S 206A;
  2. wire: diameter 0,25 mm ≤ D ≤ 10 mm, cold drawn from solution treated rod, for the manufacture of springs, designation S 206B.
