• BS EN 15426:2018 Candles. Specification for sooting behaviour - 

  This document specifies requirements and the test method for evaluating the sooting behaviour of burning indoor candles. It is applicable to single wick candles with a diameter up to 100 mm or equivalent cross sectional area intended to be burned indoors.

  NOTE Single wick candles with a diameter above 100 mm or equivalent cross sectional area and multiwick candles cannot be evaluated with this test method for technical reasons. Evaluation of the visible release of soot is a possibility for these candles.

• BS EN 15493:2019 Candles. Specification for fire safety - NEW VERSION 14/11/2019 - This European Standard specifies requirements and test methods for the fire safety of candles intended to be burned indoors.

• BS EN 15494:2019 Candles. Product safety labels - NEW VERSION 14/11/2019 - This document specifies safety information for burning indoor candles and includes requirements on how safety information will be displayed.

As part of its commitment to product quality, safety and corporate responsibility, the National Candle Association has played a leading role in the development of industry standards for candles and candle products.

The current national industry standards for candles have been developed, balloted and published through the ASTM International standards organization. Although ASTM candle standards are applicable to the United States, they are often referenced or drawn upon internationally by candle organizations and regulatory authorities in other nations.
