DESCRIPTION

IEEE 1656-2010

This guide is applicable to wildlife protective products installed on overhead electrical distribution systems rated up to and including 38 kV. The guide provides test recommendations regarding these products that are in direct contact or in the proximity of energized parts and conductors.

The purpose of this guide is to recommend test procedures to evaluate the electrical, mechanical, and durability performance of wildlife protective products. The guide provides the end user with test recommendations to ensure that these products will not compromise the dielectric performance of the supporting structure, will not cause premature failure due to normal environmental conditions, and will minimize the possibility of a momentary or permanent outage to the electrical system in the event of wildlife interaction.

New IEEE Standard - Inactive-Reserved. This guide is applicable to wildlife protective products installed on overhead electrical distribution systems rated up to and including 38 kV. Test recommendations regarding these products that are in direct contact or in the proximity of energized parts and conductors are provided in this guide.
