The scope of this amendment is to define an Object Identifier hierarchy used within IEEE 802 for uniform allocation of Object Identifiers used in 802 standards.

The purpose of this amendment is to establish a consistent practice within IEEE 802 for the development and allocation of object identifiers. Consistency of Object Identifier allocation will facilitate implementation and operation of IEEE 802 compliant equipment.

Amendment Standard - Superseded. IEEE Std 802-2001, IEEE Local and Metropolitan Area Networks: Overview and Architecture, provides an overview to the family of IEEE 802 standards. This amendment to IEEE Std 802-2001 specifies an Object Identifier hierarchy used within IEEE 802 for uniform allocation of Object Identifiers used in IEEE 802 standards.
