This recommended practice applies to individual cable accessories only when referenced by the specific accessory standard. This recommended practice does not apply to cables or cable systems that utilize gas or gas spacers as the sole insulating medium.

This recommended practice provides the method for impulse testing of insulated cables and their accessories. This revision updates the test and reporting procedures based on laboratory research and user experience since the previous publication.

The intention is to supplement insulated cable and their accessory standards by providing specific procedures for impulse testing on specific types of cables, accessories, or cable systems.
