Why Choose This Standard?

The PD CEN/TS 13476-4:2019 standard is a critical resource for ensuring the quality and reliability of underground drainage and sewerage systems. By adhering to this standard, you can be confident that your piping systems will meet the highest industry standards for performance and safety.

This standard is particularly valuable for:

  • Engineers and Designers: Provides clear guidelines for designing efficient and reliable piping systems.
  • Contractors and Installers: Ensures that installations are carried out to the highest standards, reducing the risk of future failures.
  • Quality Assurance Professionals: Offers a framework for assessing the conformity of piping systems, ensuring compliance with industry regulations.

Material Specifications

The PD CEN/TS 13476-4:2019 standard covers three primary materials used in structured-wall piping systems:

Unplasticized Poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC-U)

PVC-U is known for its excellent chemical resistance, making it suitable for a wide range of drainage and sewerage applications. Its rigidity and strength ensure long-term performance, even in challenging environments.

Polypropylene (PP)

PP offers superior flexibility and impact resistance, making it ideal for installations where ground movement is a concern. Its lightweight nature also facilitates easier handling and installation.

Polyethylene (PE)

PE is highly resistant to abrasion and corrosion, providing a durable solution for underground piping systems. Its flexibility allows for easy installation in areas with complex layouts.

Assessment of Conformity

The standard includes a comprehensive assessment of conformity, ensuring that all piping systems meet the required specifications and performance criteria. This assessment is crucial for maintaining the integrity and reliability of underground drainage and sewerage systems.

Conclusion

The PD CEN/TS 13476-4:2019 standard is an indispensable tool for anyone involved in the design, installation, and maintenance of non-pressure underground drainage and sewerage systems. By following this standard, you can ensure that your projects meet the highest levels of quality and safety, providing peace of mind for both you and your clients.

Invest in the PD CEN/TS 13476-4:2019 standard today and take the first step towards building reliable and efficient underground piping systems that stand the test of time.

DESCRIPTION

PD CEN/TS 13476-4:2019

This standard PD CEN/TS 13476-4:2019 Plastics piping systems for non-pressure underground drainage and sewerage. Structured-wall piping systems of unplasticized poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC-U), polypropylene (PP) and polyethylene (PE) is classified in these ICS categories:
  • 93.030 External sewage systems
  • 23.040.20 Plastics pipes

This document gives guidance for the assessment of conformity of materials, products, joints and assemblies in accordance with the applicable part(s) of EN 13476 intended to be included in the manufacturer’s quality plan as part of the quality management system and for the establishment of certification procedures.

NOTE 1

The quality management system is expected to conform to or be no less stringent than the relevant requirements to EN ISO 9001 [ 1].

NOTE 2

If third-party certification is involved, the certification body can be accredited to EN ISO/IEC 17065 [ 2] or EN ISO/IEC 17021 [ 3], as applicable.

NOTE 3

In order to help the reader, a basic test matrix is given in Annex A.

In conjunction with EN 13476?1, EN 13476?2 and EN 13476?3 this document is applicable to Plastics piping systems for non-pressure underground drainage and sewerage — Structural-wall piping systems of unplasticized poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC-U), polypropylene (PP) and polyethylene (PE):

  • for non-pressure underground drainage and sewerage outside the building structure (application area code “U”) reflected in the marking of products by “U”, and

  • for non-pressure underground drainage and sewerage for both buried in ground within the building structure (application area code “D” and outside the building structure (application area code “U”) reflected in the marking of products by “UD”.
